A very Corgi Christmas

Santa knows we are Corgi Crazy. He brought Sophie this sweet little tri. He also brought her legoes and games. I got her the pillow and a t-shirt to match. I told her the t-shirt would not be appropriate for school though.

Hannah got a golden corgi. Santa also brought her lots of art supplies and this wonderful drawing desk.

Snow dogs!

I'm back! Yay! I have a lot to talk about but rather than take up a lot of your precious time, I will blog everyday for the next few days and break it into chunks.

The snow and the dogs have been front and center for the past few days.

They got some really big bones from Santa.

Zoe decided that two were for her and zero were for Chloe.

Chloe disagreed.
I had to throw one of the bones way out into the yard so they would not fight over them!

They love, love, love the snow!

I can't get enough of watching them!

Tater and Mr. Dumbles think the dogs can stay out in the snow for the rest of the winter.

A White Christmas in Oklahoma

The storm hit Christmas Eve morning with sleet. The winds were ferocious and the north side of the house sounded like a war zone from the ice pelting so hard. By afternoon it had changed to snow, but not the lovely flakes that drift down so serenely. We had horizontal snow and winds that pushed the dog house around outside. The corgis spent the day indoors with occasional potty breaks outside. I was worried they would end up blown against the fence.

But it was beautiful...

The drifts on the front porch are amazing!

We have lights on the bushes in the front garden and they are covered but glow underneath their blanket of snow.

The girls got out in it yesterday.

And yes, we do still have the red dirt hills in the back yard. Why do you ask? We like them. We have named them, grown attached to them, might even keep them.

Tomorrow I'll write about Santa's visit.

Let the wind blow, the snow fall!

We are expecting wild and woolly weather today. We may just get a rare, rare, rare white Oklahoma Christmas. But we are battened and hatched and warm and shopped and ready for it!

Yesterday the girls decorated cookies.

I think they did a great job.

Last night we went to dinner at the Spaghetti Warehouse in Brick Town

and then went to the Mannheim Steamroller concert.

I was disappointed in the concert. The music was good but there was no real show and the liquid light show really dated the experience. We left at intermission.

We enjoyed being downtown though. Bricktown is such a wonderful place. Downtown Oklahoma City is wonderful and this time of year it is especially beautiful. If it wasn't 40 degrees I think we would have taken a carriage ride.

New Sweaters!

Did they really need new sweaters? Noooo........

Do they need sweaters at all? Noooooo.........

Was man of the house happy about the new sweaters? Absolutely not!

Chloe's was too small and she immediately got it dirty.

But they are so cute! With....

or with out sweaters!

Of course they had to argue about who was the cutest in their new sweater!

Who do you think looks the most adorable?

We'll never hear the end of it now!

Chloe and Zoe are today's feature at The Daily Corgi.

Really, do they need this exposure?

They think they are princesses as it is.

And Mr. Dumbles has about had enough!

Perfect

I participated in a holiday swap over at Pickles on Pizza. I received my gift today from Cindy, and it is perfect.

Every teacher should have this sweet, delicate necklace. Thank you Cindy.

Christmas Decor

I decided to take a day off away from the classroom. I really needed this and I am utilizing my time very wisely. For example I got to watch all of Good Morning America while I ate my cinnamon roll I got as a Christmas present from our cafeteria staff. I did a little shopping with LL Bean and Land's End. I perused a holiday cookbook. I have big plans for the rest of the day too. Really, there's too much to go into.

I thought I'd break away from all of the hub-bub and share some Christmas decor from around the chateau.

I made these pitiful little things many years ago and was not going to put them out this year. I really felt they should be retired. But Noodle insisted. When older daughter emerged from her cave, I mean room , the first thing she asked about was the snow family. So they are still with us.

Gazillion year old barrel/cask. We have dragged this thing around with us for many, many years.

I like snowmen. It is not warm today but it is sunny. His other side says cold and snowy. It is cold, but no snow.

People always ask us where baby Jesus is and we always reply "He isn't born yet!" Our tradition is that one of the girls places him on Christmas Eve before they go to bed. There have been years where I wasn't quite sure where I hid the baby Jesus and a frantic search would commence to find Him.

The tree....ahhhhhhhh..... We had to buy a slim tree last year because our living room is quite, well, cozy. But I love the tree and the cozy living room.

Some of the Santa collection.

Tater - the cat - keeps jumping up here and knocking down my blocks. I keep saying he is messing with my peace.

One of my favorite ornaments. We have a lot of old glass ornaments, a lot of new stuff and a lot of things the kids have made. We have some Santas on the tree too.

Blankets and pillows cover the furniture.

Noodle has a tree in her room. Tater likes to redecorate it as often as he can. "TATER!" has become the mantra around here. Merry Christmas!
