Sweet 16

Another birthday for older daughter... I feel her slipping away. But it is good, and bittersweet at the same time.

At 16, she is her own person.

She is an Artist and an writer. I never doubted those were the paths she would pursue. As a small, small girl, she went through reams of paper on her easel.  She filled them with drawings and amazing visual stories. At five she taught herself to write. I can't begin to explain how she did it, but she did.

At 16 she is beginning to think about her adult life. She might want to teach. She says she will adopt from Asia to create her family.

At 16 she is so very normal and incredibly unique. I am so proud to be her mom.

Happy birthday my daughter!

Happy birthday to your daughter! Beautiful and talented she is! She will do well in life!!

It is hard to let them go, but they are always a part of you and seeing them grow into adulthood and taking on responsibilities, dealing with them, etc is an exciting interesting adventure as well!

May she have a great day and year ahead!

Such a beautiful and talented young woman - She will go as far as she wants in this world!

Must be something to see 'em growing up (and growing up so well) too...

Hmm.. maybe I should adopt from Asia too...

What a sweet post and tribute to your daughter! She sounds incredibly like my own daughter whose creative genes went into overdrive with the art, the writing, her own personal style. She's a professional photographer now, and her creative imagination has provided a very good living, something she loves to do. Your daughter sounds like she is on the right path to becoming a woman with passion.

Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and she sounds incredibly grounded. She is also the second person I found on blogs this morning for whom I share a birthday with. I hope her day was as enjoyable as mine was although with that cake I don't know how it couldn't have been.

Sweet 16...Happy Birthday Hannah!! I remember when you Aunt Jeanine and I flew in shortly after you were born. Your Dad picked us up from the airport, it was late and you were snuggled with your Mom in bed. I never forgot how sweet you both looked.
